From the The Daily Mail: The Daily Mail reports that when Canadian designer Mark Fast announced to his staff that three women who wore sizes 10 and 12 would be in his show, two members of his team apparently quit in disgust. Two last-minute volunteers who worked late to get the collection together saved the show. "We are glad we stuck to our vision," Amanda May, Fast's creative director, said. "We wanted women to know they didn't have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress—curvier women can look even better in them."
I reserve my right to call "bullshit" on this. Do I think that Mr. Fast really cares about the "curvier" girls and making fabulous designer clothing for them? Um, no. Do I think that his marketing team had a novel idea to get some free press? Yes!
I could write a book on why this is so damaging but until society as a whole changes were screwed and little girls will grow up thinking there not thin enough, not pretty enough, not tall enough, not smart enough, not rich enough and basically just not.
Good Job Mark Fast, Good Job.
