Good Job Mark Fast!

From the The Daily Mail: The Daily Mail reports that when Canadian designer Mark Fast announced to his staff that three women who wore sizes 10 and 12 would be in his show, two members of his team apparently quit in disgust. Two last-minute volunteers who worked late to get the collection together saved the show. "We are glad we stuck to our vision," Amanda May, Fast's creative director, said. "We wanted women to know they didn't have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress—curvier women can look even better in them."

I reserve my right to call "bullshit" on this. Do I think that Mr. Fast really cares about the "curvier" girls and making fabulous designer clothing for them? Um, no. Do I think that his marketing team had a novel idea to get some free press? Yes!

I could write a book on why this is so damaging but until society as a whole changes were screwed and little girls will grow up thinking there not thin enough, not pretty enough, not tall enough, not smart enough, not rich enough and basically just not.

Good Job Mark Fast, Good Job.

76 (yes 76 bags) Gucci Icon Bit Medium Hobo (including tax)

Or how about 3 (yes 3 SUV's) 2003 Mercedes G Class SUV

To break this down in my fellow Mom terms, you could buy 49,500 boxes of Capri Sun.

Book Pick for September: Bringing Home the Birkin

I am really loving this book right now.

"She opened a drawer in the counter, and donned a pair of spotless white cotton gloves. She removed the lid, and placed it gingerly beside the box. Under the lid were four layers of white tissue, tisuue so stiff it looked starched (I'd later learn Hermes had their tissue custom-made, to ensure that it was acid free), She carefully negotiated the barriers of white, draping them in such a manner that each sheet lay perfectly suspended over the edge of a corresponding cardboard wall-north, south, east, west. Then, with utmost care (like picking up a newborn from a bassinet) she lifted out the Birkin and placed it in front of my wondering eyes. It was still hidden, though, snug inside a dun-colored dustcover. She unlaced the drawstring, and peeled back the cloth. (I almost expected them to pipe in burlesque music.) Once she had unveiled it, I couldn't stop gawking, although I don't think I was that obvious. The charcoal-gray (I guess that's what "anthracite" meant) crocodile bag gleamed richly. She kept talking.

Vogue addicts beware- This ain't no "Devil Wears Prada". This Sundance Film Festival award winning film will be out September 11th and sure to be a huge hit. This documentary will take us into the world of Anna Wintour, the legendary editor of Vogue magazine and possibly the most talked about woman in fashion. She's held this post for over 20 years now and as you may or may not know- has been rumored to be kind of a nasty bitch on wheels. This film will take us behind the scenes of her day to day life and give us a "fly on the wall" view into meetings, backstage at fashion shows and hopefully how this gal spends her downtime when not obsessing over the magazine and what will be featured in each and every issue. Ya got to hand it to her, personality issues aside, she can rock a magazine like no other. The September Issue - don't miss it. And speaking of September! Don't miss the Monsac Bag giveaway!! What would you do, who would you turn to, your children? Since April 2001, BCEF has helped more than 1200 low-income women undergoing breast cancer treatment pay their rent, utilities, medical and dental bills when they were too sick to work. This year alone, grants will be made on behalf of more than 300 women in San Francisco and San Mateo counties facing the financial hardship of a breast cancer diagnosis. By operating with very low overhead, and sharing administrative costs with AIDS Emergency Fund, BCEF has been able to use more than 90 cents of every dollar
raised for client grants.

We are proud to also announce that a very large portion of the proceeds of certain handbags bags listed for sale on the First Class Consignment website will directly benefit the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund.
